This section is a display of flowers, plants and wildlife from Descanso Gardens in La Canada Flintridge, California, separated into three pages with over 200 images.
Descanso Gardens used to be an undeveloped part of the enormous 36,000 acre Verdugo Rancho, and was purchased by E.M. Boddy in 1937. He established the Gardens, including a vast forest of Camellias in the shade of the oak forest on the land to provide blossoms for the cut-flower industry. It is now home to North America’s largest Camellia collection on 20 acres of the garden. There are also five acres of Roses, over 500 Lilacs, and numerous native plants and seasonal displays. A magnificent Garden.

Descanso Boddy House Chinese Decorations 0125, 0134
The Boddy House has recently had exterior remodeling, and the patio that used to have a Chinese theme has been remade into a contemporary design. I decided to post these composites with photos of some of the Chinese decorative art that used to adorn the old patio. Personally, I think the new patio design is devoid of character (I liked the original).

Descanso Boddy House Chinese Ceramics 0128, 0130
Ceramic figures atop the old patio wall. It used to be lined with figures like this.
